Fundraising Update: Diabetes

16 March 2006-

I received my royalty statement last week and sent in another gift to the JDRF. I have had people question if I am really sending the money in and/or just sending in a little bit of the royalties. Here is a copy of the royalty statement.

I have added a little bit more to even it out, so you can see that all of the money is truly going to charity.

Thank you for your support in buying the books. Check back again in the near future for new updates.

Thank you, Roger, for your contribution of $50.00 to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International. You are helping us move even faster down the path to a cure for diabetes and its complications.

Want to double your donation? Most companies have matching gift programs, which means they?ll match your donation, or maybe even double or triple it! Find out if your company will match your gift to JDRF at www.jdrf.org/matchinggifts.

We hope you will continue to visit us at www.jdrf.org for regular news updates to see the progress of the research you are helping to fund.

Contributing on-line is only one of many ways that you can help. You may want to register for the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes, sign up to be a legislative advocate, or volunteer for an activity at the chapter nearest you.

You will receive an e-mail confirmation of your donation. A printed version of the e-mail constitutes proof of donation. If you have any questions regarding your donation, or any matter relating to JDRF, please call our toll-free number at 800-533-CURE (2873).

Again, thank you for your support in helping us fund research to find a cure for diabetes. Your donation is making a difference.

Sincerely,

Arnold W. Donald

1 Nov 2005-

This is the email I sent to JDRF and their reply.

Dear Roger,

Thank you for contacting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International (JDRF), the world's leading charitable funder and advocate for research to cure type 1 diabetes and its complications. We appreciate your generosity in donating a percentage of your book proceeds to JDRF.  You are welcome to list us as a resource on your website but please limit the use of our name to that.

I hope the information we provide on www.jdrf.org has been helpful to you and your family – perhaps your son Ryan would enjoy the kids page of our website  - h Also, if you are not already involved with your local JDRF chapter, I encourage you to participate in an upcoming event and/or begin to receive chapter newsletters so you can be kept up to date.  You can find chapter contact information online at www.jdrf.org/chapters/homepage.php or by calling 1-800-533-CURE.Thank you again for your donation and best of luck with book sales!,

Subject: Rolalties from book to JDRF

Dear Mr. Peter Van Etten,

Good day to you! My name is Roger W. Kramer. I am the author of two books, published by Double Dragon Publishing, specifically the Battle for Ka'an, I have stated that all of my profits will be given to JDRF to help find a cure for Diabetes. My son, Ryan has had Diabetes since he was 9, he is 14 now. So far, I have only made $30.00 in profit on the book, The Battle for Ka'an. Today I forwarded the $30.00, plus an additional $20.00 from our family. I apologize that it isn't more, but I hope that sales will pick up eventually and I will be able to send more. May I link your web site to mine under Fund Raising Progress?

My web site is www.rogerwkramer.com.

I hope to hear from you soon,

Thanks for all that you do,

Roger W. Kramer

P.S. The second book, The Siege of Ka'an, the profits are being sent to the National Foundation for Transplants in Memphis Tenn. (My mother had a Liver Transplant in 1984.)

As you can tell, each book will have a charity to which the profit will go.

As of now I have made about $30.00 in profit from the royalties off of the Battle for Ka'an. As you can see, it is a little short of the goal I had ambitiously set up at the beginning on last year. I am sending in $50.00 to the JDRF, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation today.

Please support the research to find a cure today. I think of how wonderful it would be if even one dollar helped to fund the cure for diabetes, so our son and the millions of people around the world would be released from the regimen on shots and blood sticks.

Thank you again for your support and God Bless you and your families.

August, 2004

50% of my profits from this book will be donated to help find a cure for Diabetes, a disease that affects millions of Americans. My interest in this disease is personal. My Son has type one and we pray everyday for a cure. My mother has type one, but it was from taking medicine for a Liver Transplant.

I am surprised by the amount of people in this country that can't afford the medication and doctor visits. With the second 50% of the book, I want to try and help people that can't afford medical supplies and doctor appointments. I have had Associates working with me that are working in temporary jobs because they get sick so often that they lose their jobs and then have to work to collect enough money to get their medicine again. I have offered to pay for and buy an associates medicine for them, but they refused.

There are many resources available for person's who have Diabetes and I will set up links to help you, if the websites will let me.

Continue to check back here to see how we are doing. My goal is to raise 1 Million dollars by Christmas of 2005. I will not get the figures for my book sales until March or April of 05, so check back then and I hope to have more information for you.

I hope that in some small way, that I can help find a cure or a treatment for Diabetes. Thank you for buying this book and God Bless you.

FUND RAISING REPORT- The royalty statement came in and it was about $29.00. I will be sending it in for Diabetes Research. I will post the letters and the reply when I receive them.
