In 1984, while serving onboard the Coast Guard Cutter Yocona, I found a book by an author named Piers Anthony. It was book two Blue Adept in the Adept Series and I quickly fell in love with his books and manner of writing. Read The Apprentice Adept Series, Incantations of Immortality,  Bio of a Space Tyrant and Geodyssey. Mr. Anthony is a prolific story teller and can be found at www.hipiers.com.

This is the website of Peter W. Prellwitz. Peter was my main competition in the Draco Award, which he won with the entry, Horizons. It is an excellent book and I wholeheartedly give my recommendation for reading this and other books in the series. I just finished Promise Tide and recommend it also. Take a ride through the Shards Universe and enjoy numerous short stories and information about the author.

Inside the flap information: HORIZONS

For twenty years Earth has been exploring the stars using faster than light stardrives whereby a manmade black hole pulls the ship through space. Dangerous to themselves and everything in the vicinity, the twenty-four starships, led by the flagship Horizon, have opened up new worlds to colonize.

Now mankind stands on the brink of a momentous breakthrough: Hyperidor drives; faster-than-light travel that is inexpensive, risk free, and available to all. All that stands in the way of vast exploration and colonization is a corporate behemoth that wants to see the hyperidor drive fail; no matter what the cost.

It is left to the Horizon’s Captain Pamela Carlson and Third Engineer Mahlon Stewart to decipher the means, motives and murders that threaten not only mankind’s future in space, but the Horizon and its crew as well.

This is the website of William W. Koonce. He is a friendly writer that prefers to be called Billy rather than William. You will fall in love with his descriptive writing in the Soul Redeemer Series. Tall Man in a Hat is an excellent book that will keep you entertained as well as make you think a little bit about our lot in live. Maybe we don’t have it as bad as we think we do and with some of the choices we make there is definitely hell to pay.

Inside the book cover:

Come and join Father Daniel, a man of diminutive stature with the most important job on earth. Pulled from retirement at an age when other Soul Redeemers are either dead or to feeble to execute their calling, he accepts one more assignment to redeem a soul. When he teams up with a close nit group of scientists working on a top-secret government experiment, a mix between both the spiritual and technical takes place, send Father Daniel to the ends of the world and to the very depths of hell.

Sheri's book is one of the first e books I downloaded and I really enjoyed the story line and it will keep you in suspense throughout the whole story.

Inside the flap statement:

Within the Shadow of Stone- a journey through legend and myth to the time of standing stones. To a world where warriors are bound to the silent megaliths and the Shroud Born walks within the mist.

Bree of Clan Dunstan, and her people, the Skye, worship the stones, though they fail to remember the reasons why. The Skye no longer hear the song within the silent megaliths for they've forgotten how to sing.

Now, as the pulse of the land slows, and the seasons fail, it's to the stones that Bree, a true Shroud Born, must turn, and their whispers she must hear. For within their still forms is a truth that could save them all, if only she will listen to their call.

When your need is truly great, the stone shall not forsake.
